Scammers Arrested After Taking Fake “Funeral Donations” Along Freeway
A police instigation in Victorville, California found out that three people taking donations for a funeral along the freeway were indeed scammers.
The signs the scam artists held had sayings like "RIP Johnny," "Funeral Donations," "Anything is a blessing," and "Thank You & God Bless." The signs also had a photo of a little boy.
Cops found out that the little boy was not deceased and "Johnny" was actually a friend of one of the suspects. A 20-year-old man and two 14-year-old boys were arrested on charges of theft by false pretenses. All the cash they had collected was a result of donations from the fraudulent signs.
