What Happens In Florida If You Don’t Have A Real ID By Deadline?
The deadline is QUICKLY approaching to get your ID updated.
You've seen the notifications, the deadline extensions, and every other thing, but what happens when you don't have a REAL ID when the final dates roll around?
You should know that if you don't have one yet you need to make an appointment with the DMV as soon as possible.
What Happens If You DON'T Get A REAL ID?
Starting May 7th, everyone flying in the United States or visiting a secure federal facility will need a REAL ID, Enhanced ID, passport, or another form of federally compliant identification.
The DMV Commissioner of New York, Mark J.F. Schroeder, put it plainly for New Yorkers, but the rule applies for everyone in the country.
“The last thing you want to do is delay a trip, or worse, be unable to fly if you need to in a pinch because you don’t have the right identification. So don’t delay in making your REAL ID appointment, and before you come see us, check out our online resources so you can be sure you have everything you need," he said.
If you don't get the REAL ID by the deadline of May 7th, you will not be able to enter any federal facilities or get on any commercial plane, regardless of its destination.
To try to make the upgrade process as easy as possible, the DMV has a number of online tools like a document guide and application pre-screening process.
