A 37-year-old Miami man, Paul Joe Gomez, is behind bars after allegedly orchestrating a massive theft of high-end bathroom fixtures. Authorities say Gomez siphoned off over $400,000 worth of merchandise, including more than 400 smart toilets, from SW Corporation in Brownsville.

Caught on Social Media

The scheme began to unravel in September 2025 when an employee spotted Anzzi brand smart toilets being sold on Facebook Marketplace. According to the arrest report, "the listings depicted Anzzi products being offered for sale at prices and in quantities inconsistent with legitimate retail distribution."

The employee went undercover as a buyer, discovering the seller had access to bulk inventory. By matching the seller’s delivery dates with security footage, the company spotted a moving truck being loaded without authorization.

Bypassing Company Rules

Surveillance allegedly caught Gomez repeatedly loading pallets of tubs and toilets. He reportedly avoided internal checks by claiming the orders were special. The arrest report states: "When loaders or shipping personnel requested documentation... Gomez repeatedly stated the shipments were handled by him and that no paperwork was required." Investigators noted this was "inconsistent with standard inventory and shipping controls for high-value product."

A Pattern of Fraud

Between June and September 2025, Gomez allegedly stole saunas, shower doors, and toilets at least ten different times. When police searched his vehicle, they found notes detailing prices and quantities of "toilets and water heaters."
Gomez now faces charges of first-degree grand theft and organized fraud.
