The driver, identified as 47-year-old Robert Rose, was arrested the next day after police located his vehicle and discovered methamphetamine and other drug-related items.
False-Bottom Can Hides More Than Just Spray
According to Springfield Township Police, the Uber passenger contacted authorities after Rose allegedly mentioned a false-bottom aerosol can containing meth.
Officers were able to track the vehicle down the following day near Massillon Road and Cates Drive. During the traffic stop, police found 24 grams of methamphetamine—four times the bulk amount considered for trafficking charges—inside the false-bottom can.
Police Seize Drugs, Cash, and EquipmentIn addition to the meth, officers recovered:
- Four unidentified pills
- A meth pipe
- A digital scale
- Packaging materials
- Cash
- Three cell phones
Rose denied any knowledge of the meth-filled can despite its presence in the car. He was arrested and now faces several charges, including drug trafficking, felony drug possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court Hearing Set for Summer
The case is scheduled to go before a grand jury on July 2, where further legal decisions will be made. Authorities have not released additional details regarding Rose’s prior criminal history or whether this was his first offense.
