A Tiktok with 9 million views is still blowing up because it shares a hack that all employees will want to take advantage of.

"How to get 46 days off using 18 days of PTO" is the title of the meme that this Tiktoker shared.

It shares 5 ways to get the most days of relaxation out of your PTO, mostly by taking time off closer to the holidays. Let's break it down, starting in 2023.

  • January 2023
    • If you take the Thursday and Friday before MLK day off you will get 5 consecutive days off.
  • April 2023
    • If you take the 4 days before Good Friday off you'll have a 10-day break. (That includes two weekends and the Monday after Easter)
  • July 2023
    • If you take the Monday before July 4th off you'll get a 4-day break.
  • November 2023
    • If you take off 5 days after veterans day and 3 days before Thanksgiving you'll get 17 consecutive days off.
  • December 2023
    • If you take 4 days between Christmas and New Years off you'll have 10 consecutive days off.

“This is so clever,” said Fandomfanboi, making a cameo appearance in his popular post. “I just wanted to share it with you because I think that we should all be taking more breaks and getting paid for them.”

10 days is the average PTO in the United States private sector, not including paid holidays and sick days. I don't know what job this person has, but they are certainly onto something!

"My company doesn’t pay holiday pay unless you work either the day before or after."

"Y'all are getting 18 days worth of PTO??"

"I work in an office and if you take the day before a paid holiday off then you don’t get paid for the holiday."

"That’s assuming your company gives days off like Veterans Day and MLK day which most don’t."
