Business owners in a Canadian town are upset, and so is the internet, about a new business called the Sweet Spot.

They're not upset so much about the strip club's existence, as they are about the location of the business.

Right in the middle of a downtown area where a ton of local businesses are, in what the city calls their "Prime earning downtown locations."

One business owner who owns the Red Shelf Decor antique store, is moving because his building's rent is doubling in price, and there's a strip club moving in directly above him.

“I’m definitely sad to be leaving downtown,” owner Steven Johns told CHEK on Friday. “I just don’t think it’s a good fit, especially for a downtown with other family-friendly businesses around."

The Sweet Spot Lounge is currently being renovated to become the strip club.

On the other side of the club - Harbour Dance Studios, a children's dance studio.

“I don’t think most reasonable people would think putting a strip club next to a children’s school is a good idea. I guess in this case at least one person does. However it will be interesting to see what the city council thinks of this,” said the owner, Carl Butterworth.

Kenny Chung, who owns the strip club, says he's not breaking any rules by opening, and expects it to be a popular business.

“We’re hoping to open soon. And how did you hear about us? My license says adult entertainment is permitted, so,” said Chung.

The club celebrated its opening weekend this past weekend.
