Eldridge Couple Airlifted After Motorcycle Collides With Deer in Wisconsin
An Eldridge couple was seriously injured Friday afternoon after their motorcycle collided with a deer on a Wisconsin highway, resulting in both riders being airlifted to a trauma hospital.
A Scary Motorcycle Accident
According to the Grant County Sheriff's Office, emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash at approximately 3:43 p.m. on Highway 133 in Waterloo Township.
Police say the couple was traveling south on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a deer suddenly entered the roadway. The impact caused the motorcycle to go down and slide roughly 75 yards. Both riders were thrown from the bike.
Authorities said neither the man nor the woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Couple Transported To Hospital
First responders provided emergency medical care at the scene before both victims were transported by helicopter to UW Health University Hospital in Madison with severe injuries.
The crash serves as another reminder for motorcyclists and drivers to remain especially alert during the summer months, when deer are frequently active near roadways. Even a brief encounter with wildlife can have devastating consequences, particularly for those traveling on motorcycles.
