Florida Man Broke Into House At 6:30am To Make A Margarita
A man in Jupiter, Florida, has been arrested after breaking into his neighbor's house to slice a lime and drink her tequila.
According to the Jupiter Police Department affidavit, the victim woke up around 6:30am to her dogs barking non-stop.
She grabbed her firearm and walked downstairs, where she saw 30-year-old Geoffrey Bartimus heading for the back door.
Bartimus apologized and quickly jumped her back fence with a towel wrapped around his head. Investigators say he lives just down the street. In the encounter caught on a Ring camera, it showed him trying to open the front door while holding a six-pack of beer.
He moved to the back side of the house and found an unlocked sliding glass door. Once he was inside, he helped himself to her alcohol - taking some of her Svedka vodka and Milagro tequila. He left open bottles, a cut lime, and a knife on the kitchen counter.
A police K9 unit tracked Bartimus straight back to his own house, which was nearby. Police spoke with Bartimus, who said he had been asleep all morning after eating breakfast and having a couple of beers. He denied going into his neighbor's house.
He was told he was under arrest, and put up some resistance until he was yanked into the back of the police car.
Bartimus was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail for counts of unarmed burglary of an occupied dwelling, petit theft from a dwelling, and resisting an officer without violence.
