So far, there is no official cause of death. Police responded to a 911 call from a friend of Laurer who said that she was not breathing.

Chyna's official Twitter account posted this message to her followers:
"It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real superhero. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."

Officers are on scene right now. We're told they are investigating as a possible overdose, due mainly to her history with drugs. Prescription bottles were found in the home, but there were no illegal drugs ... according to our sources.

Cops say there are no signs of foul play.

Chyna was a huge part of the WWE's "Attitude Era" in the '90s. She started out as the bodyguard for the group D-Generation X, which included Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Because of her size and physique, she often fought guys, and even won the WWE's Intercontinental Championship from Chris Jericho. She also posed for "Playboy" in 2000.

She was Triple H's girlfriend in real life, until he ditched her for the boss's daughter Stephanie McMahon. Due to that whole situation, Chyna was fired in 2001, and struggled on and off with addiction. She ended up doing porn from 2004 to 2013, including two superhero parodies where she played She-Hulk. Recently she spent some time in Japan, teaching English.

Lately she'd been talking about wanting to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. In an interview, her ex-boyfriend Triple H said she deserves it, but they couldn't put her in because of her work in porn.
