Dispute Over Wedding Buffet Escalates Quickly

A South Florida wedding at the Boca Lago Country Club turned chaotic on January 18 when attorney Mark Roher, 52, became enraged over being cut in line at the carving station. Roher, who was waiting his turn for prime rib, confronted the man who had allowed his daughter and another girl to step ahead of him in line. The verbal confrontation quickly spiraled out of control, leading to physical violence.

Dinner Plate Used as a Weapon

According to a police report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Roher became increasingly frustrated when the man ignored his complaints. Without warning, Roher allegedly struck the man on the head with a dinner plate, causing it to shatter. Witnesses reported that the altercation quickly escalated into a broader physical confrontation involving multiple wedding guests.

Attorney Denies Hitting Victim, Arrested for Battery

In his interview with police, Roher confirmed that he had been upset about the line-cutting but denied using the plate as a weapon. He admitted to pushing the man but claimed that he hadn’t struck him. Roher also told officers that the wedding was a "dry party," meaning no alcohol was served, and he hadn’t consumed anything to drink. Despite his denials, the report indicates that Roher physically engaged with the victim, pushing him and holding him by the collar.

Roher was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Additionally, he and his wife were both issued trespassing warnings, banning them from returning to the country club for one year.
