At $1.1 billion dollars, this is the second largest Mega Millions® jackpot in history!

Tonight is the night, either someone's life is going to drastically change, or no one gets lucky (just like me every Friday night).

If you just so happen to beat the odds, which are 1 in 302,575,350, here is what you should do.

1.  Keep the Ticket Safe.

State Farm Insurance recommends that winners make copies of their ticket, then put the original in a safe or bank deposit box. It is wise not to sign the ticket until reading ALL of the rules. This will impact the ability to remain anonymous.

 2. Beware of Scams

Lottery Scammers are real, and they will get you! Watch out for these sneaky thieves. Some scammers falsely identify themselves as lottery employees in an attempt to steal money from unsuspecting people.

"No representative of Mega Millions would ever call, text or e-mail anyone about winning a prize," the multi-jurisdictional lottery board’s website says. Be suspicious if someone asks you for confidential or banking information.

3. Protect Your Privacy

When people find out you are the winner, they are going to act up and try to get in touch with you. Be prepared to change your contact information, including your phone number, and setting up a P.O. box.

4.  Get Professional Advice

Especially if you know little to nothing about finances, it is wise to put together a team of financial experts, including an accountant, financial adviser, and lawyer.

5.  Don't Make Any Big Decisions

Although you may be a billionaire now, do not make a huge purchase or lifestyle change, that is the reason so many winners go broke.  Also, remember to avoid becoming an ATM for family and friends, they may love you but they also might use you.

Happy playing, may the odds be ever in your favor.
