Verizon Employee Uses His Truck to Save a Cat from a Pole and Is Suspended
Here's one from the "no good deed goes unpunished" file...
A guy named Maurice German is a Verizon employee in Philadelphia, and earlier this month, he was on a job when he saw a cat that had climbed up a telephone pole and was stuck there.
The cat's owner said the cat had been up there for 12 hours, and since the Verizon guy had one of those trucks with a basket on a crane that could reach the top of the pole, he went up and saved the cat.
And to celebrate his act of heroism Verizon has now suspended him for three weeks.
A spokesperson says Maurice misused the truck, which is a safety risk, and that's why he was suspended. "He potentially put his life and those around him in jeopardy."
But they don't want people to be mad at them, so they threw in that they aren't happy about suspending him, and they also made a donation to an animal rescue organization.
