Surveillance footage from the Greater Columbus Convention Center captured a Tesla crashing into the building.

The crash happened on May 4th in Columbus Ohio. The video shows three different angles of the crash. First from the outside, seeing the Tesla flying off the street and into the building. The second angle is a closer shot of the building, there you can see the Tesla take out the potted plants and then blast through the glass windows. The third angle is a ceiling camera within the convention center, showing the Tesla entering the building.

The driver of the 2020 Tesla Model S, owned by Columbus Green Cabs Inc, had lost control of the car’s brakes. He was going 70 MPH on SR-315, exiting onto Neil Avenue, and driving through a red light at Vine Street and North High Street.

According to a police report, three witnesses who were present at the time of the crash noticed the car speed up in order to make it through a yellow traffic light. The car appeared not to slow down before hitting the building.

A spokesperson for the convention center said the crash did between $250,000 and $350,000 in damage to both the interior and exterior of the building, including drywall, the sprinkler system, power lines, carpeting, and wall coverings, FOX 8 reported.

The driver was cited for failure to control a vehicle.
