This weekend, Sweatstock will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock August 16-17 at Murphy Park at The Bend in East Moline.

I was able to talk with Chrissy Boyer of All Sweat Productions and Kate Dale at Hive Event Consulting about putting together...not only 2 days, 2 stages of music...but forming multiple bands to form the tributes to these amazing performers of the original Woodstock.

I asked about how they picked the bands and which original artists were their favorite.

They've stacked the lineup with 100+ Quad Cities area standout musicians that will recreate the legendary performances of Woodstock and perform sets of original music.

The festival will include tribute performances to Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Janis Joplin & Joe Cocker, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Sly & the Family Stone, The Who, the Grateful Dead, The Band, Johnny Winter and many more. Local acts that will also feature their original music include: Joe Marcinek, The Velies, Rude Punch, The Candymakers, Jordan Danielsen, Jason Carl and the Whole Damn Band, Condor and Jaybird, The Dawn and Charlotte Boyer.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 16 and Noon on Saturday, August 17.
