Soldier Responsible For “Humvee Bomb” Video Discharged

In 2016 a video was posted showing multiple military vehicles being dropped from a plane in a training exercise. Three of those Humvees plummeted to the ground with no parachutes.

It's been uncovered that the stunt was not accidental. Sgt. John Skipper was hit with a bad-conduct discharge and had his grade reduced to E-1 in connection to the video. The 29-year-old intentionally cut the chute straps on the vehicles just prior to the heavy drop exercise.

His action caused the Humvees to connect with the Earth at terminal velocity, completely destroying them. It's worth noting that Skipper could have been given a 10-year prison sentence and a complete dishonorable discharge. Instead he was handed a court-martial of destroying military property and giving a false official statement.

Here's the video of the incident. The person you hear cheering in the background is an observer trainer coach and was given a letter of reprimand shortly after the video came out.
