What's QC Beer Club?

Well...it's for beer lovers who want to get together and drink beer, talk about beer, try new beers, and win some cool stuff just for being a member of a beer club!

They'll visit the unique bottle shops and taprooms in the area to learn about and taste beers from around the region and country.  You'll have access to behind the scenes of the brewery, stories from the brewers themselves and what steps go into making the beers. Members are invited to bring a six-pack and leave with a mix-pack, it's the QCBC way of trying new beers you've never had and never heard of.

Plus, you can gain access to exclusive beer deals and events every month with awesome giveaways - win gift cards, merch, tickets to events, and beer.

I talked with Brandon Mavis who runs Craft QC (which promotes breweries in the QC) and he is now taking over QC Beer Club.  I can't think of a better person to do so.

They'll meet on the second Saturday of every month to hang out and try some new beers.  They'll be at Back Pocket Brewery in Coralville for  the July 10th QC Beer Club meet up.

Hotel Davenport Demolition

The Hotel Davenport is located at 5202 Brady St. and was reportedly built in the early 1970s. Earlier this year it was decided that this hotel was no longer set to have guests.

According to the Quad Cities times, the Davenport hotel has faced a number of fires, along with safety and health code violations. This has led to the call for its demolition. I've driven past it many times and have seen that the building had clearly began to deteriorate.

It was scheduled for demolition earlier this year, and said demolition began in April. Many involved in this project are excited to see what the future holds for this lot in Davenport.

I drive past this spot every day for work, and over the last month have snagged some pictures of the demolition.
