Missouri Town’s New Newspaper Is Called “The Uranus Examiner”
There's a small town in central Missouri that's called Uranus. Technically, it's not a town, it's a bunch of shops and restaurants that call themselves "Uranus, Missouri" to attract tourists who drive past on Route 66.
Uranus and the real towns around it like Waynesville and St. Robert all had one newspaper called the "Waynesville Daily Guide". It went out of business last Friday. A new newspaper is launching to fill that void and it's called "The Uranus Examiner".
That name is definitely getting some attention, but not everyone is thrilled with it. The mayor of Waynesville is afraid that the "innuendo of that title puts my city up for public ridicule." The team behind the "Uranus Examiner" is plowing through anyway. They plan to start printing next month.
