During a serene holiday getaway at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas, Michael Farchi's relaxation was abruptly halted by an intense and sharp pain, a sensation that one hardly expects in the comfort of a luxurious hotel room.

The Sting Incident

A California visitor lodging at a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip over the holidays is contemplating a lawsuit after claiming he was stung in the testicles by a scorpion while sleeping.

Michael Farchi from Agora Hills recounted waking up to intense pain at the resort. It was as if someone was piercing me in my privates, like a piece of sharp glass or a knife, he described. After searching for the cause of his discomfort, Farchi discovered a scorpion attached to his underwear, describing the ordeal that occurred on December 26. Subsequently, he and his family vacated the hotel previously on December 27, with the hotel waiving their room fee.

Photographs show the alleged orange scorpion involved in the incident at a prominent Las Vegas Strip hotel during the festive season in 2023.

Legal Considerations and Resort Responsibility

Alongside his lawyer, Farchi presented photos of the scorpion on his undergarment. He confessed uncertainty on how it entered his room, stating, “I didn’t even ask how it got in the room. It was just under my cover.”

The occurrence, recorded at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, quoted Farchi mentioning he had been stung by a scorpion in the groin area at approximately 8 a.m., reporting significant pain and attributing the mishap to The Venetian since the scorpion was in the bed while he was asleep.

He went to the hospital, and they confirmed it was a scorpion sting.  Michael Farchi apparently made a full recovery physically, but his lawyer says he has trauma, so they're considering a lawsuit.

The reaction was one of disbelief from everyone; I was in disbelief myself, said Farchi, mentioning that the resort had documented the incident and that he was mulling over legal recourse. Brian Virag, Farchi’s attorney, pointed out the lasting distress the scorpion sting caused his client.

Virag expressed confidence in The Venetian Resort Las Vegas having preventive measures against such incidents but stressed the importance of their proper implementation.

The Reaction of the Venetian Resort

The Venetian released this vague statement:  "The resort has protocols for all incidents and we can confirm they were followed in this incident."
