Eastern Iowa Man Finally Claims Huge $2 Million Powerball Prize
Since the end of last year, we've been wondering who the big winner was in Eastern Iowa of a huge $2 million Powerball prize. We finally know who that person and he claimed his winnings just in time before the ticket expired.
We know that the Powerball prize was $2 million and that the ticket was sold in Clinton. Luckily, that prize went to someone in Clinton. He is a retired man and his ticket that won him $2 million was the only ticket that won that amount that November night.
Clinton Man Finally Claims $2 Million Powerball Prize
It's official. We know who won that $2 million Powerball prize from the drawing back on November 25, 2023. The ticket was sold in Clinton, Iowa and the winner is from the same place.
Congrats to Mark Krogman, 72 of Clinton, on claiming his $2 million prize. Krogram, who is retired, claimed his prize on Wednesday. He told Iowa Lottery officials he felt shock and joy when he realized he'd won big.
Iowa Lottery officials say that Krogman's ticket was purchased at Clinton Liquor, 1641 S. Bluff Blvd. in Clinton, and came within one number of winning the $337.9 million jackpot in the Powerball drawing on Nov. 25. His ticket initially matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball to win a $1 million prize. But Krogman added the Power Play® option to his purchase, which multiplies the prize at the Match 5 level to $2 million.
Krogman's ticket was the only one in the country to win a $2 million prize in that night's drawing. Clinton Liquor received a $2,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $2 million-winning ticket.
Krogman told Iowa Lottery officials that he has specific plans for his winnings. He wants to pay off his house and possibly add to it, help his family with needed finances, and just enjoy life.
Krogman was close to having his winning ticket expire. Powerball prizes currently won in Iowa must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. That would have been May 23, 2024.
Congrats, Mark on your big winnings!
