Four-year-old Josie Butler lives in New Hamburg, Missouri and was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia about two-and-a-half years ago, but she beat it.

She's been in remission since last year, and she's doing great. Last Wednesday was "Superhero Day" at her school, she did something pretty cool. All the kids were supposed to show up dressed as superheroes, but she and her mom Alyssa looked through her closet the night before, and couldn't find any superhero gear.

Alyssa asked if she wanted to go as a real superhero instead, by dressing up as herself. They made a cape, painted two lightning bolts on her face, wrote "Super Josie" on her shirt, and decided that her superpower would be the ability to destroy cancer one day at a time.

Alyssa posted photos of the costume on Facebook to show how resilient kids are, and said, "There are a lot of kids out there battling cancer, and they are heroes."
