Florida, You’ll Never Guess What They’re Locking Up at Grocery Stores Now
You’ll never guess what they’re locking up at grocery stores now.
Hint: It’s not electronics or perfume… It’s something you’d grill.
Florida shoppers are doing a double-take at Walmart and it’s not because of a crazy sale. A new viral video has revealed a surprising item now under lock and key at the grocery store. And no, it’s not luxury goods or high-end tech. It’s something a lot more… delicious.

Lock It All Up
In the now-viral clip, TikToker @solid_soul83 films themselves holding a pack of ribeye steaks, sealed inside a metal wire cage. “You gotta be kidding me. Walmart now has the steak locked up,” they say in disbelief. The video has racked up over 8 million views and thousands of comments from stunned viewers. Another TikTok user summed it up perfectly: “That’s when you know it’s bad.”
Comments on TikTok range from disbelief to humor. “A whole prison fence and ankle monitor for two steaks,” one person joked. Others called the trend “sad” and “unbelievable.”
Not The First Time
These steak-locking practices aren’t entirely new. Similar videos from 2022 showed meats and even inexpensive items like Spam locked up to prevent theft. Major retailers like Target, CVS, and Walgreens have also introduced similar security features, including locked display cases and electronic tags, especially in areas with high theft rates.

The Public Weighs In
Not everyone agrees with the approach. While companies aim to reduce losses, many shoppers are frustrated by the extra steps required just to buy basic items. Walgreens CEO Tim Wentworth even admitted that locking up products has hurt sales. “When you lock things up… you don’t sell as many of them,” he said.
As grocery store security gets tighter, Florida residents are left wondering — what everyday item will be caged up next?
