Hero Dog Leads Deputy to Missing 86-Year-Old Woman in Florida
A dog named Eeyore is being praised as a hero after leading a Florida sheriff’s deputy to a missing 86-year-old woman who had fallen while walking him. Body camera footage shows the dramatic rescue that unfolded on the night of September 25.
The woman’s husband contacted authorities after she failed to return from her usual evening walk in their Destin neighborhood. “She just takes that dog, but she never takes more than 10 or 15 minutes,” the concerned husband told Deputy Devon Miller in the video. “It’s almost an hour now. It’s over an hour now.”

Deputy Miller began searching the area and soon spotted Eeyore standing in the middle of the road. When she called out, “Hi! Where’s your mommy?” the dog immediately turned and began leading her down the street. Following Eeyore’s lead, Miller discovered the woman lying nearby, unable to get up.
“He practically dragged me to her,” Miller said later in a statement released by the department on social media.
Reunion Brings Relief and Gratitude
The woman was conscious and responsive when found and was later taken to a medical facility for evaluation. Grateful and amazed by Eeyore’s actions, she told the deputy she couldn’t believe the dog had gone for help—especially since he wasn’t even hers.
“He came up to your car?” she asked Miller. “Oh, sweetheart. ... Oh Eeyore, you're such a good boy. Grandma loves you.”
Thanks to Eeyore’s quick instincts, the woman was safely reunited with her husband that night.
