These Are The 10 Most Redneck Towns in Florida
We measure towns by their safety, by their growth, population, ability to drive, and just about every other metric - but there's one that we have often not thought of, and that's measuring by "How Redneck" a town is.
A YouTube video from 2016 has gone viral again lately, and it claims the Top 10 most redneck towns in the state of Florida. He has a list for every one of the 50 states, so I'd assume he's some kind of authority on the matter.
Before we start, these videos are purely made in fun, and I'm sure the guy doesn't mean to insult anyone - a reason he selected "Redneck." Any true redneck I've befriended knew they were redneck, and they were proud of it.
The Top 10 "Most Redneck Towns" in Florida
10. Mascotte
The YouTuber, Nick Johnson, says Mascotte ranks 10th in the state for places to get gear for hunting and fishing, a favorite of rednecks everywhere. Combine that with the generally blue-collar population, and you've got a textbook redneck spot.
9. Westville
Located up in the panhandle of Florida on I-10, Westville boasts being ninth for bars per capita in the state, thirteenth for fishing and bait shops, and has the third most tobacco shops per person in the state.
They also have one of the largest numbers of mobile home parks in the state.
8. Perry
Not far from Tallahassee, Perry ranks fourth in Florida for gun stores, and sixth for fishing shops. Urban Dictionary shows the most associated words with Perry, Florida are "Fishing, Hunting, Hicktown, and Redneck."
7. Brooksville
Brooksville is second in the state for mobile home parks, and fifth for gun stores. It's located right next to the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife refuge, where a lot of Floridians go to get their hunting on. Their biggest hunting is of wild hogs.
6. Quincy
Another stop in the panhandle, Quincy is known for their fishing - but they're also home to a Walmart, Piggly Wiggly, a Winn Dixie, and multiple Dollar Generals - which Nick says are favorites of rednecks.
5. Inverness
Now one of the rumors about Inverness is that it's a good spot to get your fan boat on the water and find pull out more than 20 largemouth bass per acre. Great hunting can be found nearby at the Citrus Wildlife Area.
4. Starke
Starke ranks fourth for guns and ammo, fourth for fishing, and 18th in the state for smoke shops. According to local news sources, the county Starke resides in is one of the best for hunting and fishing - especially the sunshine bass.
3. Arcadia
Getting down there now!
Arcadia is known for their mudding spots, and they have their very own Bass Pro Shop located not far from a Walmart. The YouTuber said "That's like short lines in Disney World!"
2. Clewiston
On the southern banks of Lake Okeechobee resides Clewiston, with one of the highest concentrations of bars. Lake fishing is a huge part of this area, but there are plenty of other little bodies of waters to check out. Just on the other side of the lake lies our #1!
1. Okeechobee
Okeechobee is number one in the state for gun stores, fourth for fishing stores, and second in the state for mobile homes. You take all that and combine it with only a 73% graduation rate for high school in the area, and you've got yourself the redneck capital of Florida.
If your town made the list, you might have made it to Redneck Heaven.
