Driver Owes $13,000 From Two-Year-Old E-ZPass Violation

Luu Cuong passed through a toll booth a couple years ago without realizing she did not have enough money on her E-ZPass. Now a collection agency says she owes them.

“I had negative $10 in my EZPass account, and the next thing I know I’m calling the court because of the hold and they’re saying it’s in collections and I owe almost $13,000,” she said to WTVR.

Cuong now has a hold on her DMV account and she cannot register her car. Over the past two years, Cuong has moved multiple times and missed a mandated court appearance. Apparently her E-ZPass fine is only $447 and the rest of the $13,000 is made up of court and collection fees.
