A choir from a Waynesville Middle School in North Carolina started singing the National Anthem outside the 9/11 Memorial in New York last Friday and a security guard stopped them mid-song.

The guard said it was a "public demonstration" and they didn't have a permit. Teacher Martha Brown said, "Some of the students were very upset and confused. I told the children, 'This is a place where you need to respect authority even if you don’t understand it.'"
