The arrest occurred on Friday, July 8th at 2 a.m. in Rock Rapids. The Sioux Falls woman identified as Jamie Marie Estenson was charged with first-degree theft, operation without a registration card or plate, no valid driver’s license, and failure to provide proof of vehicle liability insurance.

Estenson was caught driving a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office to bond her boyfriend out of jail.

When Estenson was caught by authorities she was unable to provide current registration or insurance documents for the vehicle. It was also discovered that her privilege to operate motor vehicles in the state of South Dakota was revoked.

After investigating the vehicle, it turned out it had been stolen from Worthington, MN, and Estenson was a suspect in Worthington Police Department’s case with the vehicle, which is valued at $11,100.

There is no word on who her boyfriend is or what his crime was.

There was a very similar incident back in March of 2022. A woman in Louisiana also stole a car to pick up her boyfriend from jail.

It seems to be a trend that women without cars date criminals.

The woman identified as 21-year-old Alaina Cole admitted to stealing the car and was trying to bond her boyfriend out of the Grant Parish Detention Center. Obviously, she was arrested and charged with stealing a car.

I wonder if this is a thing that police deal with often.
