Wild Elephant Broke Through Kitchen Wall to Steal Food
They say with bears, you shouldn't leave food out because it will attract them, and if you're staying indoors, it'll be fine. Apparently with elephants, that's not the case.
According to a video shared by Newsflare, Rachadawan Phungprasopporn and her husband were asleep in their home in Thailand when they were awoken by a loud noise.
Going to investigate, the couple was shocked to see that their home had a 2am intruder, but not what you'd expect.
An elephant, known as Plai Bunchuay in the neighborhood, had broken through the kitchen wall, and was rooting around with it's trunk.
In the video, it can be seen grabbing a plastic bag of rice before popping the bag into its mouth.
Rachadawan told Newsflare her husband ran the elephant off, which went back into the wooded area near the neighborhood.
"This elephant is well known in the area because he causes a lot of mischief. He came to the house about two months ago and was looking around, but he didn't damage anything then," she told Newsflare. "We spoke to the local wildlife officers and they told us not to keep food out in the kitchen because the smell attracts the elephants, so we followed their advice."
A conservation officer in the area, named Supanya Chengsutha, said "The most likely explanation for this situation is that the elephant smelled the food and wanted to eat it."
I love looking at elephants, but I don't think I ever want to wake up to one robbing me.
