Where Are The Best Burgers in All 50 States?
Last weekend my bride and I took a little road trip to Bennett, Iowa on the advice that there waiting for us were the best cheeseburgers we would ever have. Ever? Well, I had to check it out, so off we went.
Bombers did not disappoint. An unassuming joint on Main Street, we were met by Lori, who runs the hair salon by day. When COVID hit, and her beauty shop closed, she volunteered to help Bombers bring food curbside because that's what you do in a small town. Since the restrictions have been lifted, she has stuck around. She and Marcia are the dynamic duo of that place--Marcia running the kitchen, Lori running the food.
We had a great time, and the burgers were awesome. I'm not a guy who dresses up a cheeseburger with a bunch of stuff, so when I say a burger is good, it's because it started out that way. No special sauce, or avocado slices, or whatever. That's nice, but I guess I prefer mine to look like a cattle truck and a cheese wheel ran into each other on the highway outside of town.
Mine was a double meat, bacon cheeseburger and fries. My gal went with the regular sized burger. The best thing I can say is that it's worth the drive--whatever distance you are travelling.
And that got me thinking. Dangerous, I know. But what if I ate the best cheeseburger in every state? What a great life that would be. I realize in my life I've probably eaten a cheeseburger in 15 or so states, but this project would be more specific.
Even a not-great cheeseburger is still pretty good. But the prospect of eating killer burgers all over the country is a tempting idea. So, where to start? Asking you all, of course. Who makes the best cheeseburger you can think of?

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America
Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
