What Drink Do Americans Like Most? (Hint: Beer. It’s Beer.)
Let's make a toast to our favorite beverage.
A new Gallup poll of more than 1,000 American adults who drink alcohol has found that beer is the beverage we'd most like to enjoy.
Here's a breakdown of the percentage of people who prefer what type of drink:
- 40% - beer
- 30% - wine
- 26% - liquor
Men, in particular, like a brewski, with 62% saying its their drink of choice. That's a far cry from the 19% of women who make the same claim. For the record, women prefer wine -- 50% say that's their favorite, proving they're the classier sex. Unless, of course, we're talking about boxed wine.
Whatever the go-to drink is, one thing is clear: we need a go-to drink. Between airlines bumping passengers out of their seats with the frequency of a two-year-old throwing a temper tantrum, our political landscape looking like a war zone and the fact that this bunghole is famous, getting at least a little tipsy seems like a nice break.
Sixty-two percent of people say they at least occasionally indulge in alcohol. A total of 38% don't drink, keeping that number below 40% for 20 consecutive years. But, hey, if you're not gonna drink, maybe you can at least be the vessel that carries the liquid.
