The Original Wilhelm Scream Recording Session
That iconic scream that's in about every movie you've ever seen was recorded in 1951 for the movie Distant Drums. It's been used in over 400 films and other 100s of television shows.
It's not named Wilhelm after the guy who recorded it or for the character in Distant Drums, but "The sound is named after Private Wilhelm, a character in The Charge at Feather River, a 1953 Western in which the character gets shot in the thigh with an arrow."
