Virginia Man Threatens To Blow Up Bojangles Over Wrong Order
A Charlottesville man is behind bars following an alleged bomb threat triggered by an incorrect food order. The Albemarle County Police Department announced the arrest of 45-year-old Anthony M. Scott on Tuesday, following an investigation into an incident at a local Bojangles.
Threats Over a Meal
The incident began on New Year’s Eve when employees at the Bojangles in Pantops reported receiving several threatening phone calls. According to police, the caller was reportedly angry about a mistake made with his food order.
“We take all threats of violence seriously, regardless of what may have prompted them,” said Major Camille Stewart, Deputy Chief of Police. “Threats like these are thoroughly investigated and, as this case shows, can result in serious criminal charges.”
Search Leads to Charges
After identifying Scott as the suspect, officers executed a search warrant on January 20. While authorities utilized a K-9 unit trained to find explosives, they did not find any bombs. Instead, police recovered a firearm and ammunition.
“An ACPD K-9 trained for explosives was utilized during the search warrant, but no explosive devices or materials were located,” the department confirmed.
Legal Consequences
Scott is currently held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail. He faces charges for threatening to bomb or burn a building and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
