Body Found in Towed Car 15 Days After Removal from Woodbridge Parking Lot
Authorities in Virginia are investigating after a man’s body went unnoticed in a car for 15 days while the vehicle was towed twice between counties. According to the Prince William County Police Department, a private towing company was first called on Nov. 3 to remove a vehicle from the PS Business Park parking lot on PS Business Center Drive in Woodbridge. The car was taken from the lot and later relocated to a second tow yard in Fairfax County.
Tow Workers Alert Police
It wasn’t until workers at the Fairfax County tow lot looked inside the vehicle more than two weeks later that the grim discovery was made. They immediately contacted police after spotting a deceased person lying on the floor of the backseat.
Man Had Been Reported Missing
Investigators identified the man as a 49-year-old who had been reported missing on Nov. 1, just two days before his car was removed from the Woodbridge business park. Police have not released his name publicly.
No Signs of Community Danger
The man’s body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office, where his official identity, along with the cause and manner of death, will be determined. Police said that, at this stage in the investigation, “there does not appear to be any signs of foul play or a threat to the community.”
The incident has raised questions about how the car was transported twice without anyone noticing the man inside. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
