
Davenport Man Charged With Terrorism Threats In Courthouse Incident
There was a large police presence in downtown Davenport Tuesday evening, just after 8:30pm. Police were observed carrying shields, rifles, and the bomb squad was seen as well.
Terroristic Threats
According to the Scott County Sheriff, the Scott County Emergency Communication Center received a call of a bomb threat inside the Scott County Courthouse.
Davenport Police responded quickly, alongside the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Rock Island County Bomb Squad.
The initial investigation found that 37-year-old Noah D. Ackerland was inside the vestibule of the courthouse when he stated he was going to "blow the building to pieces," according to a release from the Scott County Sheriff's Office.
Ackerland pointed at a metal box that he had with him, telling officials that it was a bomb.
Arrest
Officers were able to successfully able to talk Ackerland out of the building, where they took him into to custody without incident.
The Rock Island County Bomb Squad investigated the metal box that Ackerland stated was a bomb, and found that it was not a threat.
Noah Ackerland was taken to the Scott County Jail and charged with Threats of Terrorism.
