Texas Woman Arrested After Two Hit-and-Runs The Same Morning
A 29-year-old woman was arrested after police say she was involved in two hit-and-runs on the same morning, just blocks away from each other.
Back-to-Back Crashes Shock Community
Arlington police arrested a 29-year-old woman after she was allegedly involved in two hit-and-run accidents just minutes apart on Tuesday morning. Authorities say Dezirae Tallie not only fled the scene of both crashes but was also wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.
Chain of Events Unfolds in Rapid Succession
According to the Arlington Police Department (APD), officers were first called to the intersection of North Mesquite Street and Slaughter Street around 8 a.m. A driver in a Ford Focus reported that a Chevrolet Avalanche had run a stop sign, crashed into her vehicle, and then sped away without stopping.
While officers were investigating that incident, APD received another call about a hit-and-run involving a Chevrolet Avalanche just blocks away at East Randol Mill Road and North Collins Street. In that case, a Mazda CX5 driver told police she was stopped at a red light when the Avalanche rear-ended her. Instead of pulling over, the suspect allegedly drove through a parking lot and continued fleeing down Collins Street before turning onto Slaughter Street.
Police Track Down Suspect and Make Arrest
Investigators believe the initial crash occurred while Tallie was trying to escape from the first hit-and-run. Officers were able to track down the Chevrolet Avalanche in the 500 block of Fuller Street and took Tallie into custody.
APD later confirmed that Tallie had multiple outstanding warrants from Hurst and Bedford. She was booked into the Arlington City Jail on those warrants, and additional charges related to the hit-and-run incidents are pending as the investigation continues.
