When people hear me talk about TikTok they automatically think I'm a weirdo dancing to the latest viral trend.  But that's not exactly true.  If you find me dancing I'm dancing to trends from 25 years ago but on TikTok I'm bettering my life!  For real.

When you find yourself on Dad Tok you run into interesting hacks related to home improvement.  Maybe a lumber tutorial or lawn tips.

Here I found an interesting way to clean your sink.  I know....pretty exciting stuff.

This TikToker throws salt into the sink, then baking soda, then paper towels then vinegar and explains why this particular combination works.

"The salt acts as a mild abrasive, but that's not all that’s going on. The salt is sodium chloride and baking soda is sodium bicarbonate so those two together increase the amount of sodium ions in the mixture.

The dish soap is just a disinfectant to wash away whatever ends up reacting.  Ordinarily the acidic vinegar and alkaline baking soda are fairly mild cleaning agents on their own and mixing together would make them even less effective.  But the extra sodium from the salt gets in the way of that reaction allowing the acid and base to react directly with the surface.

Then he gave it a rinse and gave it one wipe you can see the finished product so he says this really does work and now you know exactly why.
