There’s A New Dog Park In Rock Island and It’s Hosting A Halloween Party
Dogs and their owners are invited to dress up, explore a new park, and enjoy an afternoon of Halloween fun during the city’s upcoming Tricks and Treats event.
Halloween Fun for Dogs and Their Owners
Rock Island Parks and Recreation will host Tricks and Treats from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the new Eleanor Wallace Dog Park inside Mel McKay Park.
The dog park is located near 92nd Avenue West and 14th Street West in Rock Island, on the 14th Street side of the park near the pickleball courts.
The free event will give people a chance to check out the new dog park while showing off their pets’ Halloween costumes. Owners can dress up too, so there is no reason to leave the humans out of the fun.

Make a Paw Print Pumpkin
The afternoon will include a pumpkin-themed paw print craft that dogs and their owners can make together.
Several local vendors are also expected to attend with products and services for both pets and their people. Offerings will include pup cups, dog treats, pet-and-owner caricatures and dog grooming services.
The Eleanor Wallace Dog Park recently moved to Mel McKay Park. The city says the fenced area gives dogs a safe place to run off-leash, exercise, socialize, and play.
Know the Dog Park Rules
While dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced area, they must be leashed anytime they are outside the dog park. Dogs must also have current licenses and vaccinations, and owners must clean up after their pets.
The park is open from sunrise until 10 p.m. and is not supervised, meaning dogs cannot be left unattended.
Tricks and Treats is free and open to the public.
