Quad City Storm Fighting For Playoff Spot This Weekend
The Quad City Storm are making things very interesting heading into the final stretch of the season, and fans are about to get a weekend full of action both on and off the ice.
After a huge weekend sweep over the Fayetteville Marksmen, the Storm are holding onto the eighth and final playoff spot in the SPHL standings. But it’s tight. Really tight.
One Point Could Change Everything
Right now, the Storm sit in eighth place, just one point behind the Knoxville Ice Bears and three points behind the Birmingham Bulls. That means every single game from here on out matters.
The SPHL only takes the top eight teams into the President’s Cup Playoffs, so there’s no room for mistakes. One win—or one loss—could completely shake up the standings.
And with only a handful of games left, the pressure is on.
A Weekend Packed With Hockey… And Fun
Before coming home, the Storm hit the road Saturday to face the Evansville Thunderbolts in Indiana.
Then on Sunday, they’re back at Vibrant Arena at The MARK for a 2:00 PM game and it’s not just hockey.
It’s “Golf Day,” which means fans can actually play mini putt-putt golf on the arena concourse during the game. On top of that, it’s the final “Pucks and Paws” game of the season, where dogs can attend for free.
There’s more:
- Postgame yoga on the ice
- Puck & Paws: BRING YOUR DOG to the game
- Spring Break deal: kids under 12 and anyone with a student or school ID get in free
It’s shaping up to be one of the most family-friendly (and unique) game days of the year.
Final Stretch Is Coming Fast
After this weekend, the Storm hit the road again for a two-game series against the Pensacola Ice Flyers.
Then it all comes down to the final two home games of the regular season on April 3 and 4—games that could very well decide whether this team makes the playoffs or not.
Fans looking to be part of the action can grab tickets through the team website, Ticketmaster, or at the arena box office. Group packages, suites, and special experiences are also available through the Storm front office.
