Trio Storms Pokémon Store, Steal $100,000 Worth Of Merchandise
Police in New York City are on the hunt for three armed robbers who effectively knocked off a Pokémon store during an event.
The store was holding a community event where there were more than 40 people in attendance when suddenly, three armed robbers stormed the store, holding attendees at gunpoint.
Authorities said the robbery lasted just over three minutes from start to finish. The perps were described as wearing masks, anime themed backpacks and armed with a gun and a hammer.
The store just opened in November, and the owner said they've been considering hiring security guards for the store. Similar robberies have happened recently in Boston, Seattle, and Los Angeles.
Police are asking anybody with information to come forward, and hopefully they can catch these Pokéthieves.
In Los Angeles just a few weeks ago, when armed robbers arrived just as the storekeeper was locking up for the night, according to NBC LA.
The robbers took a collection of cards that were in a briefcase, belonging to one of the shop's regulars, valued at nearly $300,000.
Another sportscard store the same weekend was burglarized of about $50,000 in valuable cards, when thieves chainsawed their way into the closed Simi Sportscard store, and hammered their way through glass cases to steal the valuable cards.
It's not sure if these thefts are connected, or just a new trend in crimes, but police are working to solve the cases.
