Winter Storm To Bring More Snow This Thursday To Iowa
Just when you thought spring was finally here, Mother Nature decides to throw us a snowstorm. Iowa and northwest Illinois are expected to see some accumulating snow during the second half of the work week. In the Quad Cities, there is still a lot of uncertainty on how much we'll get, but we could get a few inches depending on the track of the storm
When we tell you about a snowstorm heading toward the Quad Cities, we look at three different places. We see what our awesome meteorologist friends at KWQC say, we check with the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities, and we even take a look at what the folks at NWS in Des Moines have to say.
Iowa Is Getting Snow This Week
What all three can agree upon is that a snowstorm will impact the state of Iowa. Iowans getting the biggest hit will be in the northern half, especially north of Highway 20.
As you can see above on the predicted snowfall total amount map from the NWS of Des Moines, they think we'll see 2-5 inches of snow in the Quad Cities between Wednesday and Friday. Closer to home, the NWS of the Quad Cities thinks otherwise.
The Quad Cities Has A Lot of Uncertainty
As you can see, the NWS of the Quad Cities is thinking we will see 1-5 inches of snow. North of Highway 30 seems to be getting quite a bit of snow in their expected snowfall map. Again, it all depends on how the storm tracks through the area.
KWQC First Alert Day For The Area
Our friends at KWQC have issued a First Alert Day starting at noon on Thursday and lasting until 9 a.m. on Friday.
Similar to the NWS offices, KWQC says the bulk of this storm will impact our northern portions, mainly north of I-80. Those areas are expected to see moderate to heavy snow and gusty winds.
