More Snow Expected To Fall On Eastern Iowa This Weekend

This one is for you Eastern Iowa snow lovers out there. For you snow haters (like yours truly), it's better news than you think.

We're expected to get some more snow this weekend and cold arctic air will follow to kick off next week. This isn't a monster snowstorm and temperatures won't be below zero in the Quad Cities, but travel could be impacted Sunday and you'll want to make sure you bundle up the kids for the first half of next week.

We could see an inch or two of snow this weekend but when is it going to fall and who will get more than others?

Light Snowstorm Expected To Hit Iowa This Weekend

Our friends with the KWQC First Alert Weather team are letting us know that we could see some snow accumulation to wrap up the weekend.

According to Meteorologist Kyle Kiel, another round of light snow is expected to move into the Quad Cities this Saturday night and into Sunday. Most areas south of the Quad Cities will receive less than 1 inch, but areas to the north could see a 1-2 inches by Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities agrees and is essentially saying the same thing. This is their forecast for Saturday night and Sunday:

-Saturday Night - A chance of snow and freezing rain after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 26. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no ice accumulation is expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

-Sunday - A 50 percent chance of snow before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 33. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Arctic air will move in after the snow to kick off the new work and school week. We'll see highs in the teens Monday through Wednesday.

If you're up early and heading to church in the morning, take it slow and leave a little earlier than normal. The skies will just be cloudy when football kicks off at noon.
