The Old Farmer’s Almanac Releases Spring 2026 Forecast For Iowa, Illinois
We're all really done with winter.
It's what we're all thinking: when-but when-will it start warming up outside?
At the moment, our friends at KWQC say temps for the next several days will be in the 30's. But it is gonna warm up in the coming weeks, and probably more than you think it will.
The Old Farmer's Almanac has released their latest spring forecast, which focuses on April and May. The good news is that the word 'warm' pops up a lot. So we can go from complaining about cold weather to complaining about hot weather.
Iowa is considered in the Almanac's 'Heartland' region, which is expected to be about 5-degrees warmer than normal in April and get below-average rainfall this spring.
Illinois is split on precipitation. Some of the state will see more rainfall than the rest of it, but the good news is that it, also, has the word 'warm' with it.
You may have heard that the Farmer's Almanac is done after the 2026 edition. That is not The Old Farmer's Almanac, which has been around for 234 years and is still going strong.
If the forecast is right (which most of the time they are), Spring 2026 could look a lot like last spring did, as 'warm and dry' was the forecast for all of Iowa last year too.
Now, when exactly it's gonna warm up is anyone's guess. At this point, 'above-average temps' doesn't sound terrible. Meanwhile, we can cross our fingers for 75 and sunny ASAP.
