Is Your Child Getting Bullied? Iowa Fighter Gives Away Lessons in MMA
Far too often we see tragedy in the news. We pause, we cry, we pray, we shake our hands at the sky, maybe write a strongly worded email...then we get back to normal.
It's hard to know what to do. So, we end up doing what feels like nothing.
That's not what Dominic Martin does. Dominic is an MMA fighter here in Davenport. He has decided to actually do something positive in the wake of tragedy. He wants to help kids so they aren't scared anymore. So they can help protect themselves from bullies.
Building confidence in kids is crazy important.
In a recent Facebook post, he makes this offer:
Quad Cities, if you have a child dealing with issues like bullying at school and would like to start them in martial arts to help learn confidence, discipline, and respect, reach out to me.
I'll provide FREE lessons to any family dealing with these issues.I can't promise to solve every problem, but I assure you I'll give your child a safe place to express the repressed emotions they don't know they have.Take it from someone who found the sport at 11 years old due to bullying. It will make a difference.

Dominic's Story
"At the age of 11, I found myself bullied in school. The bullying escalated to a physical altercation where I was outnumbered by several classmates. When I returned home bloodied and bruised, my father Ron Martin (who grew up in the Moline community), chose to keep me home from school in order to teach me how to effectively defend myself."
"It was during this time that I developed the strong sense of self-confidence and work ethic that I still rely on today."
"After 4 years of boxing, I found myself wanting to test my skills in a competitive, controlled environment. At 15 I had my first cage fight at the American Legion in Moline. Since then in my 10 years of combat sports, I’ve had over 30 cage fights, as well as trained, coached, and mentored hundreds of athletes."
"Due to my success as a coach, mentor, and athlete I believe that now is the time to utilize these skills I’ve developed to give back to the community that made me. I want to create a safe and supportive environment for kids to build their confidence and learn to effectively deal with confrontation."
"In order to do so I’ve partnered with a local gym, as well as my longtime girlfriend, to ensure a safe and welcoming environment to anyone who walked in the door."
