Two days ago, sorry, I neglected to mention it was the anniversary date of Columbia Records signing Bruce Springsteen back in 1972.  How do you think Columbia has done over the last 42 years?  Hmmm ... well, he's won 20 Grammy's, 2 Golden Globes, an Academy award, been elected to 3 music Hall-of-Fames... and his 20-or-so albums have sold over 120 Million copies all over the world!   Unfortunately, he's tied with the Bee Gees on that one...Good God!  Now, putting that into perspective, even if the average retail cost of an album over his 42 years was $10, Columbia has seen 1.2 Billion dollars in gross sales on albums alone!  That doesn't include merchandise, endorsements, copyrights, or anything else too numerous to mention ... all on an artist that cost them a few thousand dollars up-front and some tiny shared royalties with a smaller label on the first 2 or 3 albums.  How'd they do ...pretty damn good!  I'd say he proved it all night and then some...
