DoorDash Driver Hit By Pursuit Suspect’s Car, Completes Delivery Anyway
A lot of the time, we don't feel like we need to tip the driver much on a delivery order. This is a driver that deserves at least a 20%.
A DoorDash driver in Texas went way above and beyond to maintain her top rating. In video caught by a home security camera across the street, the DoorDash driver arrived to a delivery, just as a police chase was coming by.
She got out of her car, little red bag in hand, and immediately got hit by the suspect vehicle police were chasing. Luckily, the driver slammed on the brakes so she just went up onto the hood as the suspect hit her car.
The food fell onto the ground, and she reached down and grabbed it as the suspect jumped out of their car and ran between some houses.
Police flew up into the yard of the home where the camera was, while the DoorDash driver finished her delivery.
“I was on the phone with my husband, and I just hear somebody crash,” said Lily Portillo, who caught the wild scene on video. “So I’m like, wait a minute, I heard something from police. When he came out from my door, I think it was HPD parked on my mulch, like what happened here!”
A K-9 Officer was able to catch up and capture the suspect. The DoorDash driver didn't want to be identified by her local news, but apparently is considering a claim against the insurance of the car that hit her.
