Helping Quad City Children: Free Winter Coats, Shoes and More Coming to Davenport
As cooler weather gets closer, one Quad Cities organization is making sure local kids have what they need to stay warm.
Soles for Children is hosting a free winter clothing giveaway Sunday, Sept. 27, at Lincoln Center in Davenport. The event will run from 2 to 5 p.m. and is expected to help between 400 and 500 children.

Kids Can Get New Winter Essentials
Families can stop by for free new coats, shoes, hats, gloves, and socks. A parent must be present with a child who is receiving a coat or shoes.
The Davenport giveaway is the second September event organized by Soles for Children. The first was held Sept. 20 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Rock Island.
The organization hopes the two events will help about 1,100 children across the Quad Cities this month.
It's More Than Just Coats and Shoes
The event is also bringing plenty of extras for families. Free food, children's haircuts, hair styling, press-on nails, music, and activities will all be available.
Happy Joe's pizza is also scheduled to be served for free, so families can grab a bite while kids pick up some winter essentials.
Here's What Davenport Families Need to Know
The giveaway will take place at Lincoln Center, 318 E. 7th St. in Davenport, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27.
There is no cost to attend, but parents need to be there with children receiving coats or shoes.
Soles for Children is an East Moline-based nonprofit that works to provide children with shoes, coats, and other necessities throughout the Quad Cities. Families with questions can call 309-292-3210.
