Iowa Father’s Day Surprise Ruined When Thieves Stole Classic Car
Yesterday was a day of disappointment for Thiel Motor Sales of DeWitt. The dealership specializing in unique classic cars and muscle cars was robbed of two of its prized vehicles.
What Was Stolen?
Three men were spotted leaving the premises at around 1:00 AM Tuesday morning stealing a 1972 Chevelle and a 1991 Jimmy.
How Did They Get Away?
The suspects hot-wired the cars and were likely in need of fuel before getting too far. It is unknown at this time where they may have gone or if they will be caught.
A Ruined Surprise
What makes this situation even more tragic is that the 1972 Chevelle had just been sold and was awaiting transport. It was supposed to be a Father’s Day gift for someone special, but now it will never reach its destination.
Angered Citizens
The community has rallied behind the dealership and is offering any assistance they can to help catch the culprits. One comment had some helpful information after a friend spotted the two cars on the highway. "My buddy saw them heading down i74 at 4:45 AM heading to Peoria when he was heading to work they passed them on 74."
The employees at Thiel Motor Sales are understandably upset about the situation. They work hard every day to make sure their customers get the cars they want, but then these thieves came and ruin everything. Many people in town speculate that the thieves have taken the cars to a chop shop in Chicago.
Help Locate The Cars
The Thiel Motor Sales team is hoping that the vehicles will be recovered and that the perpetrators will be caught and held accountable for their actions. It’s a harsh reminder that even in small communities, crime can strike when we least expect it.
