Chicago is Most Corrupt City in United States
According to a new report from the University of Illinois at Chicago, the city of Chicago is the most corrupt in the United States. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but this is a complete surprise to me.
Of the last 7 Governors from the state of Illinois, that 4 of them are in prison. 3 of those four have direct ties to politics in the city of Chicago.
Drawing information from the Department of Justice, the report shows 25 public figures were convicted of charges tied to corruption in 2017 in the City of Chicago and the northern third of Illinois. 2017 was the most recent year for which the DOJ data was available, the report says.
Here is a laundry list of City Council members who've been arrested for corruption in Chicago since 1980:

Chicago only accounts for 82 percent of the state’s public corruption convictions, federal corruption is a statewide problem. Illinois ranked, on a per capita basis, as the third most corrupt state in America. In 2017, the state only had 34 convictions for public corruption, which seems pretty low as far as I'm concerned.
