California Jeep Launches Over Fence, Crashes at Torrance High School During Soccer Match
In a scene that could only be described as part “Dukes of Hazzard” and part “bad reality TV,” a Jeep lost control Saturday afternoon and took an unexpected flight, crashing through a fence at West High School in Torrance—just a stone's throw from a soccer match in progress.

The airborne adventure unfolded around 2 p.m. as the driver sped down Entradero Avenue. Surveillance footage captured by local resident Randy Gibson shows the Jeep defying gravity and logic, launching through the air. “I was outside doing yard work when I heard a loud ‘thud’ followed by a booming crash,” Gibson recounted. “I dropped everything and thought, ‘Great, now I have to fix a fence!’”

Crashing Through The Fence
As the Jeep came to rest on the track next to the football field, chaos ensued. Referee Steve Resnick, who was officiating the soccer game, added his own colorful commentary: “I heard the crash and turned around from the other end of the field. I saw the car land on the track, and I thought, ‘Well, that’s one way to steal the show!’ It even started to catch fire—talk about a hot mess!”
Bystanders quickly rushed to help the driver, who was reportedly acting erratically. Some witnesses stated that the driver needed to be restrained until the police arrived. Footage from the scene showed the driver’s legs tied before he was taken away on a stretcher.
Were There Any Injuries?
Neither the driver nor any of the students on the field were injured. However, it was reported that the driver had been flagged for reckless driving just 15 minutes prior to the crash in Hermosa Beach.
