Bananas Donated to Texas Prison Hid $18 Million of Cocaine
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice received two pallets of ripe bananas as a donation and they got a lot more than just some fruit.
Two sergeants were picking up the 45 boxes and figured out something wasn't right. Inside the bundles of bananas they found another package, inside that was a white powdery substance. U.S. Customs agents identified it as cocaine and searched the other boxes.
In all they uncovered 540 packages of coke with a street value of about $17,820,000. An investigation is ongoing.
