This whole crisis could have been avoided if this woman had stored her money like a normal person: buried in a safe in the backyard.

Renee Reese in Thornton, Colorado claims to have stored her life savings of $35,000 inside her freezer. She theorized that if her house ever burned down, the money would be safe. The cash was inside plastic baggies and wrapped in paper towels to blend in.

Now, if I had $35,000 just sitting in my freezer, I sure as Hell would not forget it was in there. Renee forgot about her savings when she returned the appliance to Costco back in June.

She realized her mistake too late and opened a claim with Costco. So far the $35,000 hasn't been located, but they're looking into it.
